Officer Arik Matson coming back to Minnesota soon to continue treatment, wife says

The Waseca police officer who was shot in the head while responding to a suspicious call in January will soon be returning to Minnesota.

Arik Matson will soon be returning to Minnesota to continue treatment, according to the latest post on CaringBridge by his wife Megan. Currently, Arik Matson is receiving care in Nebraska and has been there for several months, sister station KAAL reported.

Megan Matson also said in the post she is able to visit him every two weeks for a few days at a time. She said over the past two weeks they’ve been working on walking together, getting in and out of the car and getting dressed, along with other daily life skills.

"Arik is moving in the right direction slowly but surely," she wrote. "Every week we are making strides onto the right path."

Tuesday also marked the nine-month mark in Arik’s recovery.
