Woman killed in St. Paul shooting, another injured

One woman was killed and another was injured Saturday night in a shooting in St. Paul’s West Side neighborhood.

According to St. Paul Police, officers were called to the 70 block of West Stevens Street at about 9:30 p.m. on a report of a woman who’d been shot. When the arrived at the scene, officers found a woman with an apparent gunshot injury. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

While securing the scene, officers found another woman who’d been shot in the arm. She was also taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation is underway.

No arrests had been made as of Sunday morning.

"This isn’t as uncommon as it should be," neighbor Susan Pavlak said. "Heart breaking for the people involved. It angers me.I pray for all the people involved in all of the violence. I pray for the people in my neighborhood. I pray for people in Minneapolis. I pray for the police who are suffering the same kind of violence when they try and do a job. I pray for us all."

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the victim’s name and cause of death at a later time.

It’s the 26th homicide of the year in St. Paul.
