High School Softball: Jefferson beats Kennedy 12-1

Bloomington Jefferson scored early and often to defeat Bloomington Kennedy 12-1 on a cold Tuesday afternoon at Kelly Field. Snow flurries didn’t cool off the Jaguars bats as they pounded out 13 hits en route to their first win of the season.

Jefferson senior Lauren Giesen had a big day. She went 2-for-3, including a double that produced two runs. She also pitched 3.1 innings with three strikeouts to earn her first win of the season.
Teammate Josie Becker pitched the remaining 2.3 innings, recording four strikeouts and not allowing a run.
Eight batters for Jefferson tallied hits giving the Jaguars a balanced attack that Kennedy couldn’t recover from.
Jefferson will host Chaska on Thursday at Dredd Scott Field, while Kennedy will travel to face St. Louis Park on Thursday. Both games will start at 4:30 pm.
