Shooting injures 1 in Payne-Phalen neighborhood of St. Paul

One person was injured Monday night after a shooting in St. Paul’s Payne-Phalen neighborhood.

According to St. Paul Police, officers were called to the intersection of Payne and Ivy avenues at about 10:15 p.m. on reports of shots fired. There, officers found a gray Jeep SUV that was unoccupied in an alley but had multiple bullet holes in it.

Police found two people on Payne Avenue who said they’d been shot at but weren’t injured. Officers weren’t able to get much information from them, police said.

A short time later, officers were told that a man suffering from a gunshot wound was dropped off at Regions Hospital. The victim told officers he was just walking to a store with a friend when he heard gunshots and started to run.

Police said the victim is in stable condition.

No arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning.
