COVID-19 in Wisconsin: Over 4,500 new cases reported, 33 more deaths in latest report

Tuesday, Wisconsin health officials announced 33 new deaths related to COVID-19, moving the state’s total to 1,633 deaths since the pandemic began.

The Wisconsin Department of Health Services also reported 218 new hospitalizations, moving the total number of hospitalizations during the pandemic to 9,537.

A total of 178,482 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Wisconsin, with a new single-day record-high of 4,591 new cases reported Tuesday.

This comes after a weekend of suspended reporting of COVID-19 totals as the state’s computer system underwent an upgrade. DHS said because of the software upgrade, the numbers reported Tuesday "reflect COVID positive cases from multiple days."

As of Tuesday, DHS reports that 1,891,365 people have been tested in the state.
