20 new COVID-19 deaths, 1,574 new cases reported by MDH

Thursday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 20 new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 1,574 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests.

Of the 1,574 newly reported cases, none of them are noted as probable cases, all are confirmed, according to MDH.

So far, 2,301 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota. 12 of those deaths are also listed as probable COVID-19 deaths.

To date, 9,226 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota and 2,485 patients have been in the ICU.

According to MDH, the 1,574 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Thursday moved the state’s total to 128,152 since pandemic record-keeping began. MDH reported more than 26,000 tests were processed Wednesday.

A total of 324 probable cases have been reported since antigen testing began.

Meanwhile, a total of 113,976 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.

As of Thursday, more than 1.7 million Minnesotans have been tested for COVID-19.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 41.3 million people worldwide and killed over 1.1 million people.

More than 28.1 million people worldwide have recovered as of Thursday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
