A Minnesota man collapsed in the middle of the 2019 Twin Cities 10-mile race, but the health scare didn’t stop him.

This year, Tyler Moon makes running a marathon look easy. But last year, it was a different story. Moon went into cardiac arrest, as other runners blew right past him on Summit Avenue. As first responders jumped in to help him, they said his heart may have stopped for 15 minutes.

His doctors aren’t entirely sure why his heart stopped, but he received a stent and they cleared him to run again.

Step by step, Moon finished the marathon with his wife by his side.

"I feel tired, but I feel a great sense of accomplishment because of what we did. It’s great to do it. I’m so happy and thankful for what got us here today. I’m just ready to go home, eat some pizza, and watch the Gophers," said Moon.

After last year, crossing the finish line was monumental.

"We’ve trained so much for this. And I think emotionally, it just as taxing as physically, especially for him, physically. But it’s just crazy to cross that finish line," said Amy Moon.

Four-and-a-half hours later, finish strong, they did, with friends and family cheering Moon on for his comeback.

"I just got the calling from God to just go and do this… to share the story and to show people and encourage people," said Moon.
