Wednesday, the man charged in connection with the death of his wife and the shooting of two of his neighbors in Bloomington is set to appear in a Hennepin County court.
Jason Mesich, 48, is charged with second-degree murder, and two counts of second-degree attempted murder.
According to court documents, 47-year-old Angela Mesich was found dead in a detached garage Sunday night. A criminal complaint states an argument between Jason and Angela preceded the shooting.
The complaint also states sisters Makayla, 12, and Canisha, 29, were shot in their front yard next door to Jason Mesich’s home.
When asked why he shot the girls, Mesich told investigators he hated all children.
As of Tuesday, Makayla remained in critical condition and had not regained consciousness, and Canisha was in serious condition.
The family’s aunt said Makayla was shot in the head while holding her 1-year-old niece.
"She did not deserve this; she hasn’t even begun to live yet," Rev. Marcia Westbrook said. "And a good kid, takes good care of her niece and her nephew. She never did anything to these people. She never did anything to this man but be a kid."
Makayla’s older sister, Canisha, was hit three times by bullets.
Mesich is scheduled to appear in court Wednesday afternoon.
