Minnesota man dies after attending Sturgis rally, testing positive for COVID-19

A Minnesota man who attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota last month and tested positive for COVID-19 has died, the Minnesota Department of Health confirmed Wednesday.
According to MDH, the man was in his 60s and had underlying health conditions. He was hospitalized and had been in the intensive care unit.
According to the Associated Press, public health departments in multiple states have been working to track how much, and how quickly, the virus has spread since the 10-day rally ended on Aug. 16.

Late last month, MDH Director of Infectious Diseases Kris Ehresmann advised people who attended the rally to quarantine for two weeks, saying health officials were expecting "to see many more cases associated with Sturgis."
As of Wednesday, MDH reported 50 total cases of COVID-19 in the state had been linked to the Sturgis rally.
