Renaissance Festival announces drive-thru parade; tickets go on-sale Saturday

The Minnesota Renaissance Festival had to cancel its 2020 event due to COVID-19 restrictions but has come up with the next best option: a drive-thru experience.

The Minnesota Renaissance Festival on Parade will take place on weekends from Sept. 19 through Oct. 4, plus Friday Oct. 2.

The event will include food, entertainment, featured artisans and a chance to support Minnesota’s great Renaissance Tradition from the comfort and safety of your vehicle, the Renaissance Festival said.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, Sept. 5 at 10 a.m. and can be found online here. Tickets will be sold for specific dates and arrival times.

Each vehicle will cost $20, with the cost of food sold separately. Food service will be conducted at vehicle windows to follow health and safety protocols. You can view a menu with all foods and prices listed here.

The 2.5-mile parade route will be a one-way route through the realm. The Renaissance Festival urged attendees to plan for a multi-hour experience with treats, free fun, games and activities you can do right in your vehicle, such as trivia, "Festival Find-it" and a carriage costume contest.

Each attending vehicle will also receive a special Renaissance Festival on Parade goodie bag with surprises from sponsors and partners.
