Vehicle crashes into state patrol vehicle near scene of rollover crash in Minneapolis

A Minnesota State Patrol officer’s vehicle was involved in an overnight crash in Minneapolis.
The crash happened around midnight Tuesday on 11th Avenue South and Seventh Street, near U.S. Bank Stadium.
According to an incident report, officers were responding to a rollover crash near Highway 35W and Hennepin Avenue when the driver and others in the vehicle left the scene on foot.
State troopers searched for the vehicle’s occupants and during the search, one trooper was driving north on 11th Avenue South when a Chevrolet Cruze, traveling west on Seventh Street, collided with the passenger side of the state patrol vehicle in the intersection.
The driver of the Cruze was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with injuries not considered to be life-threatening. The trooper was checked at the scene and was not hurt.
The report states the state patrol vehicle’s lights and sirens were activated at the time of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
