UPDATE: I-35W closure between Burnsville and Bloomington this weekend postponed
A previously-planned closure of Interstate 35W between Burnsville and Bloomington this weekend has been postponed.
In an update Wednesday afternoon, the Minnesota Department of Transportation stated the southbound I-35W closure, which was planned to start Friday, will be postponed due to rain in the forecast.
MnDOT stated it will send out an update when a new date for the closure has been determined.

Drivers should prepare for a full closure of Interstate 35W between Burnsville and Bloomington this weekend.
According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, southbound lanes of I-35W from Interstate 494 to Highway 13 will close starting at 10 p.m. Friday and will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.
The following ramps will close at 9 p.m. Friday:
- Westbound I-494 to southbound I-35W
- Eastbound I-494 to southbound I-35W
- I-35W ramps to/from 82nd Street
- I-35W ramps to/from 90th Street
- Southbound I-35W ramps to/from 94th Street
- Southbound I-35W ramps to/from 98th Street
- Southbound I-35W to 106th Street
- Southbound I-35W ramps to/from Black Dog Road
- Southbound I-35W ramps to/from Cliff Road
The ramp from Penn Avenue to eastbound I-494 will also close for the weekend. Drivers can take American Boulevard West to Lyndale Avenue South as a detour to eastbound I-494.
This weekend’s closures are part of an ongoing project to replace the I-35W Minnesota River Bridge, repave the interstate between 106th Street and Cliff Road, and build a trail between Black Dog Road and Lyndale Avenue, according to MnDOT.
