Rochester man dies after 100-foot fall from cliff into Caribou River
A Rochester man died after he fell from a cliff into the Caribou River while hiking on Labor Day.
Hubbard Broadcasting sister station WDIO-TV reports 29-year-old Daniel Allman had been hiking with a friend when he fell roughly 100 feet from a cliff into the river.
Lake County authorities told WDIO-TV they received a call at about 9:30 p.m. on Monday reporting the incident.
Authorities said the friend Allman was hiking with was able to get him out of the water and attempted to revive him. First responders also attempted life-saving measures but were unsuccessful, WDIO-TV reports.
Allman was pronounced dead at the scene.
