Intermittent I-94 closures expected Thursday while crews continue Dale Street bridge work

Drivers planning to take Interstate 94 near Dale Street in St. Paul Thursday night may encounter intermittent closures while crews continue working on the bridge.

According to a release from Ramsey County, crews will continue to work on the bridge substructure, the water main and storm sewers on sections north and south of the bridge on Dale Street, and electrical systems for new traffic signals.

Additionally, crews will place the second set of beams for the western half of the bridge starting Thursday night.

To accomplish this, starting at 9 p.m. Thursday, traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Lexington Parkway and Marion Street. Then, at 10 p.m., the Minnesota State Patrol will intermittently stop traffic on eastbound I-94 for up to 15 minutes at a time while beams are lifted into place.

Dale Street and the bridge will remain open to traffic during this work.

The lane restrictions and temporary closures are expected to be lifted by 5 a.m. Friday.
