Minnesota health plans extend cost-sharing waivers for COVID-19 through end of 2020

Minnesota health plans on Thursday announced that they’ve extended cost-sharing waivers for in-patient COVID-19 treatment through the end of the year. The waivers were initially in place until the end of September.

"Minnesota’s nonprofit health plans’ No. 1 priority is to safeguard the health and safety of their members," said Lucas Nesse, president and CEO of the Minnesota Council of Health Plans. "COVID-19 is having a deep economic impact on our state, so health plans are finding ways to bolster their support for enrollees, as well as the broader community."

  • HealthPartners
  • Hennepin Health
  • Medica
  • PreferredOne
  • UCare

The council also said the health plans have offered financial assistance to providers and have played a key role in community outreach efforts amid the COVID-19 pandemic, supporting several organizations along the way.
