COVID-19 in Minnesota: MDH reports 9 new deaths, 36 new hospitalizations

Saturday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 9 new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 36 more hospitalizations.
So far, 1,906 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,389 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.
As of Saturday, 247 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 140 were in intensive care. To date, 6,899 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota.
According to MDH, there were 929 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Saturday, bringing the state’s total to 83,588 since pandemic record-keeping began.

A total of 76,650 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.
As of Saturday, approximately 1.6 million tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1.2 million people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 28.5 million people worldwide and killed about 916,478 people.
About 19 million people worldwide have recovered as of Saturday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
