The Duluth Police Department says one of its officers shot a suspect Saturday night while responding to a domestic incident.
According to a news release, officers responded to a report of a physical domestic disturbance around 9:22 p.m. on the 100 block of West First Street in downtown Duluth. At one point an officer fired their gun and struck the suspect in the shoulder area.
The suspect was taken to the hospital for treatment and released into police custody. The suspect was taken to the St. Louis County Jail on probable cause domestic assault, but police decided not to file a formal charge, according to reporting from sister station WDIO.
Police say no officers were injured.
The officers involved are on standard administrative leave while the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension investigates the incident.
