MDH: 10 new COVID-19 deaths, 54 new hospitalizations

Tuesday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 10 new deaths from COVID-19, as well as 54 more hospitalizations.
So far, 1,979 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,430 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.
As of Tuesday, 290 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 136 were in intensive care. To date, 7,253 COVID-19 patients have been hospitalized in Minnesota.
According to MDH, there were 513 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota on Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 91,422 since pandemic record-keeping began.

A total of 82,833 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.
As of Tuesday, approximately 1,863,694 tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1,317,433 people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 31.3 million people worldwide and killed about 965,642 people. The U.S. death toll for COVID-19 surpassed 200,000 on Tuesday.
About 21.5 million people worldwide have recovered as of Tuesday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
Note: According to MDH – "Because all data are preliminary, the change in number of cumulative positive cases and deaths from one day to the next may not equal the newly reported cases or deaths."
