Shots fired near Ramsey County courthouse after murder sentence, fight
Shots were fired outside the Ramsey County Courthouse Monday afternoon after a murder sentencing and a fight inside the courthouse.
St. Paul police said officers were called to the courthouse area and to the area of Sixth and Wabasha streets at 3:05 p.m.
Witnesses reported seeing a vehicle pull over on Wabasha Street before someone in the vehicle fired several shots across a parking lot.
Officers found several shell casings in the area near Sixth and Wabasha but no victims, police said.
According to police, it happened after Marcus Baker was sentenced to prison by a judge for a fatal shooting last year. After the sentence was handed down, police said Baker’s family and the murder victim’s family and friends were involved in a fight at the courthouse. The shots fired incident is believed to be related to the argument.
The incident remains under investigation. No arrests had been made as of Tuesday morning.
