Police: Woman robbed at gunpoint in South St. Anthony Park neighborhood

Police are investigating an armed robbery in St. Paul’s South St. Anthony Park neighborhood.

According to St. Paul Police, officers were called to the 700 block of Berry Street just after 9 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a robbery.

The female victim told officers she parked her 2016 Jeep Cherokee in a parking garage, walked to the secured entrance of her building and was getting on the elevator when she noticed five or six Black males wearing hoodies walking quickly toward her. When she got on the elevator, one of the male suspects stuck his foot in the elevator to stop it from closing and held it open for his friends.

The victim told the suspects they couldn’t come on the elevator due to social distancing rules but they then grabbed her purse, took her cellphone and keys and ran into the garage. Two of the suspects pointed guns at her, demanded her phone passcode and threatened to shoot her, the victim told police. The suspects then left in her Jeep.

The suspects are described as 14-16 years old wearing hoodies and skinny jeans. One was short with dark skin and another was taller with dreadlocks that had lighter-colored tips.

The victim wasn’t injured, police said. Her vehicle hadn’t been found as of early Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
