I-35W closure in Minneapolis expected Oct. 2-5
Drivers might want to plan an alternate route in advance of an upcoming Interstate 35W closure in Minneapolis.
According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, crews need to finish work paving, installing overhead signs, moving barriers and making utility connections, which is why I-35W will be closed between Highway 62 and Interstate 94.
Crews will close the northbound side of I-35W from 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5. The southbound side of I-35W will be closed from 5 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct. 5.
Drivers can use Highway 62, Highway 100 and Interstate 394 as a detour.
Additionally, northbound I-35W will be reduced to two lanes between 46th Street and I-94 from 9 a.m. Friday, Oct. 2 through 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6 to allow crews to prepare for concrete paving and barrier placement.
The work is part of the ongoing 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown project.
