The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis responded Friday to a local priest’s comments about the COVID-19 pandemic.
The sermon was posted online in September where Father Robert Altier said the pandemic is based off lies to create fear. It was viewed a half-million times.
The archdiocese said Altier has acknowledged that his comments were inappropriate in the context of a homily during mass.
Archbishop Bernard Hebda said he consulted with the Minnesota Department of Health for a critique of the points mentioned in the sermon and included them in a letter to parishioners.
