Crosby man killed in single-vehicle crash

UPDATE: The sheriff’s office has identified the victim as 57-year-old Stacy Elmer Walls.


A Crosby man died Sunday after a single-vehicle crash in Trommald.

The Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to a reported crash near the intersection of Iverson Road and South Black Bear Road at about 11 a.m.

When they arrived, deputies found a man already dead in the driver’s seat of a 1998 GMC Sierra. Nobody else was in the vehicle, and the reporting party called after happening upon the scene.

The sheriff’s office said preliminary investigation indicates the GMC was headed north on Iverson Road when it crossed South Black Bear Road and struck a tree on the northeast corner of the intersection.

The man’s is being withheld at this time, pending family notification. However, the sheriff’s office said he was a 57-year-old Crosby resident.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
