Duluth City Council approves $300k in funding for Spirit Mountain
The Duluth City Council voted to provide $300,000 in funding to Spirit Mountain in order for it to open this upcoming season, according to WDIO-TV, a Hubbard-owned station.
WIDO reported the vote was unanimous.
A number of council members cited input from constituents, as well as economic concerns as a reason for the vote.
“A lot of the focus has been on the $300,000 in funding, but we know that Spirit Mountain has an economic impact in the millions of dollars,” said Council Member Arik Forsman
Spirit Mountain has been closed since the spring due to the pandemic.
Last winter, the council approved a $235,000 bail out for the park to stay open.
