Police investigate homicide in north Minneapolis, suspect in custody
A man died Friday evening after a suicide call that was quickly later turned into a homicide instead, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.
At 7:48 p.m., Minneapolis police received a suicide call on the 4000 Block of Humboldt Avenue North.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a deceased man believed to be in his 40s. A woman in her 30s was at the scene and told police the victim died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but after interviewing her, the police then determine the incident was not a suicide but believed to be a homicide after officers noted some inconsistencies and notified homicide.
Detectives came out and started an investigation. As they proceeded further into the investigation, they arrested the female in the residence and brought her to City Hall where she was interviewed and subsequently booked into the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center on Probable Cause Murder, said police.
Police believe the incident was domestic, as the male victim and woman suspect knew each other.
There are no other suspects at this time, said police.
The Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity, along with the nature and cause of death, in the coming days.
No additional information has been given about the incident.
