Gabe Kalscheur enters transfers portal, with return to Gophers possible

Gabe Kalscheur, the Gophers’ best perimeter defender, is entering the transfer portal, a source confirms to KSTP Sports. A return to the Gophers is possible, the source said.
Kalscheur joins Marcus Carr, Jamal Mashburn Jr., Sam Freeman, Tre Williams, and Martice Mitchell as Gophers to enter the portal since Richard Pitino’s dismissal. Over 1,000 players across D-1 are currently in the portal.
The junior from DeLaSalle high school averaged 10.4 points a game in his as a Gopher.
New Gophers coach Ben Johnson, a DeLaSalle alum himself, knows Kalscheur well and they have a strong relationship. But the portal gives Kalscheur options. Of the six Gophers in the portal, Kalscheur offers by far the best chance of a return, we hear.
