Deputies investigating death in northwestern Wisconsin

Sheriff’s offices from Sawyer and Washburn counties are investigating a death that happened early Friday morning in northwestern Wisconsin.

According to a release, deputies from the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence in the Stone Lake area on the report of a deceased woman. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 42-year-old woman in the residence dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

A death investigation is underway, with the assistance of the Wisconsin State Crime Laboratory and the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice.
