Gophers’ Liam Robbins enters transfer portal
Gophers center Liam Robbins is the latest member of the men’s basketball program to have joined the transfer portal.
KSTP Sports confirmed Tuesday that Robbins has entered the portal, joining teammates Gabe Kalscheur, Marcus Carr, Jamal Mashburn Jr., Sam Freeman, Tre Williams and Martice Mitchell since coach Richard Pitino was fired.
Robbins averaged 11.7 points, 6.6 rebounds in his junior season with the Gophers, which was his first since transferring from Drake University. He was also one of the best shot-blockers in the country, totaling 62 last season.
Robbins’ uncle, Ed Conroy, was the associate head coach under Pitino. Newly hired coach Ben Johnson hasn’t yet announced his staff. But is expected to in the very near future. We hear that it’s unlikely that Conroy will be retained.
Johnson has received commitments from transfers Luke Loewe, E.J. Stephens and Twin Cities native Jamison Battle since his hiring.
