The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in finding the person responsible for a hit-and-run on Lake Minnetonka in January.

According to the sheriff’s office, a couple was fishing on Wayzata Bay on Jan. 29 in a portable fishing tent. At about 5:58 p.m., the man left the tent to check a tip-up. While he was out, a snowmobile crashed into the tent, badly injuring the woman inside.

The snowmobile and another one that was traveling with the suspect fled the scene, exiting on Lower Lake.

The sheriff’s office said the sled was likely damaged in the crash.

Anyone with information that can help authorities find the person responsible is asked to contact Detective Diane Nelson at 612-596-8766.
