2 taken to hospital after ATV crash in rural Stearns County

Two people were taken to a hospital after an ATV crash east of St. Rosa on Saturday.

The Stearns County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the 42000 block of 248th Avenue at about 8:41 p.m. on a report of two people trapped in an ATV.

Deputies arrived at the scene and learned a 2013 Polaris Ranger had crashed and trapped a man and woman inside. The man was able to free himself before deputies got there but the woman was pinned underneath the ATV.

The man had tried to use a skid loader to lift the ATV off the woman, the sheriff’s office said, and authorities were able to help free the woman. She was then airlifted to a hospital. The man was also taken to a hospital by ambulance.

The sheriff’s office said driver impairment is suspected to have played a role in the crash.

An investigation is ongoing.
