Construction season is back in full force and drivers will be encountering lane shifts, lane closures and ramp closures around the metro this week.
Watch for a traffic shift starting Sunday night along Interstate 94 eastbound from County Road 37 in Albertville to the Crow River in St. Michael. The eastbound traffic will be moved to the westbound lanes. Two lanes will stay open in each direction during the day but expect nighttime lane restrictions. The lane shift will be in place through June. Next week, a major traffic shift will go into place on I-94 westbound from Maple Grove to St. Michael. The work is part of the larger I-94 Clearwater to Maple Grove project.
On Monday, the ramp from Highway 241 to I-94 westbound will close for one week. The detour takes motorists south on Highway 241 to County Road 19 and I-94 westbound.
In Brooklyn Center, drivers will encounter a couple of ramp closures starting Monday: I-94 westbound to Brooklyn Boulevard and Brooklyn Boulevard to I-94 eastbound. Both ramps are set to reopen in mid-May. The work is related to a larger repair and resurfacing project that will also lead to a number of weekend closures in the area.
As work continues along Interstate 35W as part of the larger MnPASS project from Roseville to Lino Lakes, more ramp closures are on the way. The ramp from Highway 10 westbound to County Road 10 westbound in Arden Hills is set to close Monday or Tuesday. The ramp from I-35W northbound to Highway 10 westbound will be reduced to one lane starting in mid-April, and the ramp from I-35W northbound to County Road J is scheduled to close on April 19.
Further west, Highway 25 is closing in Watertown for a number of weeks. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the highway will shut down around 7 a.m. Monday between High Street and Stevens Street as part of a larger reconstruction project. The detour takes motorists to Highway 7, County 10 and back to Highway 25. Click here to learn more.
