Police investigating deadly stabbing west of downtown Minneapolis
An adult male victim has died after an apparent stabbing Saturday evening west of downtown Minneapolis, police say.
Minneapolis Police Department spokesman John Elder said police responded to a report of a stabbing around 7:45 p.m. in a park area near Fourth Avenue North and Van White Memorial Boulevard.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male victim who had suffered a stab wound and had no pulse and was not breathing, Elder said. Officers attempted life-saving measures before he was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect fled the scene before officers got there, Elder said.
Initial investigation indicates a physical altercation between two acquaintances led up to the stabbing. Elder said there is not believed to be a threat to the public.
This is the 44th homicide in Minneapolis so far this year, Elder said. There were 21 homicides at this time in 2019, according to Minneapolis Police Department data.
