What a weekend it’s going to be for traveling around the metro.

For the third weekend in a row, Interstate 94 is closing in Minneapolis for resurfacing. Both directions of I-94 will be closing between I-35W and I-394 beginning at 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. The detour takes drivers to I-35W, Highway 62, Highway 100, and I-394.

On the southeast side, the eastbound lanes along I-494 are closing between Highway 5 and I-35E for paving. The road will shut down beginning at 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. The ramps from I-494 eastbound to I-35E southbound and Pilot Knob Road to I-494 eastbound will close during the same time frame. Drivers can use Cedar Avenue and I-35E instead.

For those traveling near Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, a new segment along Highway 5 is closing Friday. Westbound is shutting down between Davern Street in St. Paul and I-494 through October. The eastbound lanes will reopen Friday. The work is part of a larger pavement and bridge repair project.
