Minneapolis waives fees, allows businesses to tear down following unrest

Lake Street business owners in Minneapolis will now be allowed to demolish their badly damaged businesses following the unrest.
A state statute prevents the demolition of a building until property taxes, which are normally due in the fall, are paid in full upfront. For struggling business owners, many of whom haven’t been able to operate, that’s not feasible.

Thursday, the city waived the fees and said it will issue wrecking permits for any damaged properties.
