Questions arise over Minnesota’s stay-at-home hotline amid the COVID-19 pandemic

Minnesota’s stay-at-home hotline has been criticized by some as getting Minnesotans to spy on their neighbors, but officials say it helps take pressure off 911 dispatchers.

Since late March, the hotline has received thousands of reports of possible COVID violations, ranging from national companies ignoring the order to neighbors just telling on their neighbors.

The tips go to the Department of Public Safety and are then forwarded to the appropriate local law enforcement agency.
