MDH reports 17 deaths from COVID-19, highest daily total since June
Minnesota health officials on Wednesday reported 567 more cases of COVID-19, bringing the state’s total to 66,618 since the start of the pandemic.
The Minnesota Department of Health also reported 17 more deaths from the virus, the highest single-day total since June 19. So far 1,738 people have died from COVID-19 in Minnesota, including 1,295 in long-term care or assisted living settings.
To date, approximately 1,308,264 tests have been completed statewide, and 1,020,926 people have been tested statewide. The MDH stated a backlog of about 25,000 tests dating back to April, the vast majority of which were negative, were added to the system on Wednesday.
So far 5,988 patients have ever required hospitalization, and on Wednesday 321 patients remained in the hospital, with 152 in intensive care.
According to the MDH’s latest report, the number of patients who no longer need isolation has now surpassed 60,000, which represents about 90% of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 in Minnesota.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 22.1 million people worldwide and killed about 782,000.
More than 14.1 million people worldwide have recovered as of Tuesday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
