MSP continues to see low passenger levels as pandemic drags on
The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport continues to see low levels of passengers as the COVID-19 pandemic remains a concern.
Metropolitan Airports Commission Chair Rick King addressed the issue in an email Tuesday.
According to King, travel demand at MSP reached a low point in April and has gradually grown during the summer.

However, King says MSP is currently seeing passenger levels 70% below what the airport usually sees, as of this time last year.
While there is improvement, King said it is "still below the number of customers airline and airport businesses need to generate profits."
At this time, airlines are scheduling 309 departures a day at MSP, a drop from 560 departures a year ago.
The MAC chair says the airport may not see growth in travel until next spring or summer.
