MDH reports 14 new deaths from COVID-19, 36 hospitalizations

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 14 deaths from COVID-19 on Wednesday

So far 1,793 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,325 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.

The MDH also reported 36 more hospitalizations. As of Wednesday, 304 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 134 were in intensive care. To date, 6,274 patients have needed hospitalization in Minnesota.

According to MDH statistics, there were 542 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota, bringing the state’s total to 71,236 since the start of the pandemic.

A total of 64,374 patients are recovering and no longer need isolation, according to the MDH.

As of Wednesday, approximately 1,406,007 tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1,079,047 people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected nearly 24 million people worldwide and killed about 820,835.

More than 15.6 million people worldwide have recovered as of Wednesday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
