Frey: No curfew Friday night, additional law enforcement presence expected in Minneapolis over weekend

After two nights of curfew in the city, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey announced there would be no additional curfew Friday night.
Frey made the announcement during a press conference Friday afternoon.

While no curfew will be in place, Frey said the City Council voted to extend the emergency declaration that was put in place following unrest and looting that occurred in downtown Minneapolis Wednesday night.

"The extension of the emergency declaration gives us the ability to make decisions as situations change through the weekend," Frey said.

The mayor added that there will be and expanded law enforcement presence throughout the city. He added there are no plans at this time to demobilize the national guard.

Frey declined to comment whether the city had any intelligence regarding possible unrest over the weekend.
