Lowry Ave. Bridge lit purple in honor of late ‘Black Panther’ star Chadwick Boseman

The Lowry Avenue Bridge was illuminated purple Saturday night in remembrance of Chadwick Boseman, the actor known for his iconic role as Black Panther in Marvel films.

"Chadwick Boseman was a superhero whose work showcased and celebrated Black culture," a post to the Hennepin County Government’s Facebook page stated. "Tonight we light the Lowry Avenue Bridge purple in his honor. RIP T’Challa."

Boseman was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 and died from the disease on Friday, his family said in a statement. He was 43.

Aside from his portrayal of the king of Wakanda, Boseman played Jackie Robinson and Thurgood Marshall in "42" and "Marshall."
