MDH reports 2 new deaths from COVID-19, 43 hospitalizations

Sunday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported two deaths from COVID-19, as well as 43 more hospitalizations.
So far, 1,816 people have died of the coronavirus in Minnesota, including 1,338 in long-term care and assisted living facilities.
As of Sunday, 315 patients were hospitalized with COVID-19 and 136 were in intensive care. To date, 6,454 patients have needed hospitalization in Minnesota.
According to MDH, there were 934 newly reported positive COVID-19 tests in Minnesota Sunday, bringing the state’s total to 75,189 since pandemic record-keeping began.
A total of 66,916 patients have recovered, or are recovering, and no longer need isolation, according to MDH.
As of Sunday, approximately 1,478,432 tests have been completed in Minnesota and 1,122,071 people have been tested.

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected nearly 25.0 million people worldwide and killed about 843,641.
More than 16.4 million people worldwide have recovered as of Sunday.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.
