Protesters disrupt traffic in Eagan, call for case of man killed in 2019 officer-involved shooting to be reopened
Wednesday night, a group of people disrupted traffic along Highway 13 near Twin Cities Premium Outlets in Eagan.
The protesters marched in the name of Isak Aden, who was killed by police in 2019.
Organizers asked for Aden’s case to be reopened and for the officers involved to be prosecuted.
Dakota County Attorney: Use of force in Eagan officer-involved shooting justified
Aden, 23, died after officers responded to a domestic call. When officers arrived, Aden ran from them while holding a gun. Officers followed him and asked him to put down the gun. After doing so, police said Aden lunged toward the gun, picked it up and began raising it so law enforcement fired at him, striking and killing him.
The Dakota County Attorney’s Office determined the use of force was justified.
