UPDATE: 10-year-old dies after being pulled from St. Croix River in Washington County

A 10-year-old boy who was pulled from a body of water in Washington County Friday afternoon has died.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office confirmed to KSTP Friday night that the child had died.

Crews were called to search the St. Croix River at William O’Brien State Park at about 2:53 p.m.

At 4:27 p.m., the boy was located and pulled from the water. Medical personnel then performed lifesaving measures before the boy was taken to Regions Hospital.

The sheriff’s office later confirmed the child had died.

The sheriff’s office is investigating.
