Richfield beats Henry Sibley to advance in boys basketball playoffs

The Richfield Spartans used a 29-5 first-half run to coast past Henry Sibley in the Section 3AAA quarterfinals on Wednesday night, 77-57 at Richfield High School.
Richfield senior Lamar Grayson hit a shot at the halftime buzzer to give the Spartans a 37-22 lead at halftime.Grayson is in the mix for Mr. Basketball.

Henry Sibley looked good early, as Ethan Russell and Jaden Morgan gave the Warriors a 17-8 lead in the first half. That’s when the Spartans got a huge lift from Grayson. He scored 15 points in the first half, and finished with a game-high 19 points.
Richfield’s balanced attack on offense is its strong suit — the Spartans had five players score in double figures.
2-seed Richfield will play 3-seed St. Croix Lutheran in the semifinals on Saturday. South St. Paul is the 1-seed in the section.
