Railcar carrying molasses explodes in Cannon Falls

A railcar carrying molasses exploded Tuesday morning in Cannon Falls.
According to Cannon Falls Police, the railcar exploded at about 7:03 a.m. at the Progressive Rail facility.
Police said the explosion caused significant structural damage to a building at the facility but no injuries were reported.
Crews are assessing the area and working to clean up the molasses.
At this time, it’s unclear what caused the explosion. An investigation is underway.
