806 new cases of COVID-19, 4 more deaths reported in Minnesota

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 806 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday, bringing the state’s total to 41,571.

Health officials also reported that four more patients had died from the virus. So far 1,499 Minnesotans have died from COVID-19. Of those, 1,170 were in long-term care facilities.

According to MDH, approximately 742,095 tests had been performed statewide as of Saturday.

MDH’s latest report shows there are 241 coronavirus patients in the hospital and 121 in intensive care. A total of 4,366 Minnesotans have been hospitalized with COVID-19 to date.

So far 36,012 patients are recovering and no longer need to be isolated. MDH is now reporting that the number of patients who no longer need isolation represents individuals with confirmed COVID-19 who no longer need to self-isolate. That number "does not include those who have died; the cumulative number was adjusted to reflect that change."

According to the Johns Hopkins Center for Systems Science and Engineering, the virus has infected more than 12.6 million people worldwide and killed about 561,311.

More than 6.9 million people worldwide have recovered as of Friday.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, patients with confirmed COVID-19 have mild to severe respiratory problems, with symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath. Some patients report having muscle aches, headache, sore throat, and/or chills and shaking.

Note: According to MDH — "Because all data are preliminary, the change in number of cumulative positive cases and deaths from one day to the next may not equal the newly reported cases or deaths."
