Man dies after shooting outside south Minneapolis gas station, investigation underway

A man is dead and Minneapolis police are investigating after a shooting outside a gas station in the city’s south side.

The incident happened just before midnight Thursday along 18th Avenue South and East Lake Street.

Police told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS it began as a fight between the victim—a man in his 40s—and at least one other person.

The shooter ran from the scene, police said.

Investigators are now looking for any possible video evidence.

"This area does have, and businesses tend to have, cameras as well so we’re looking and we see a lot of businesses in this area," John Elder, director of public information with the Minneapolis Police Department, said.

No arrests had been made as of early Thursday.
