Minneapolis to commemorate 1 year of COVID-19, remember those lost
Friday, the city of Minneapolis will commemorate one year of COVID-19 and remember those lost because of COVID-19 since March of last year.
The city said the Interstate 35W Bridge will be illuminated at night, the Minneapolis City Hall/Hennepin County Courthouse bells will toll at noon and Mayor Jacob Frey will issue a proclamation.
The city hall and courthouse bells will play the song Finlandia at noon to convey the connection with communities across the world mourning their losses. The bells at the courthouse will also toll
The city also stated that, on Friday night, the I-35W Bridge will be lit in yellow and blue for those who have died in the pandemic.
The bridge will be lit half an hour before sunset on Friday until half an hour after sunrise on Saturday.
