UPDATE: Coon Rapids police report 13-year-old boy found, reunited with family

UPDATE: A missing 13-year-old boy has been found safe, the Coon Rapids Police Department reported early Friday.

According to police, the boy was found around 4 a.m. in Minneapolis and that there are no foul play suspected and no threat of any kind to the public.

Police said he was reported missing Thursday and police were notified after he didn’t get on his school bus and his laptop was found at the bus stop.

The boy has been reunited with his family, police said.

The Coon Rapids Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing teenager.

The 13-year-old was identified as being 5-foot-six-inches tall, weighing 115 pounds with reddish-brown hair and brown eyes.

Police said the boy was wearing a dark blue hoodie, green sweat pants, black high-top tennis shoes and possibly carrying a black and red backpack.

He left home on foot at around 7:40 a.m. Thursday and headed for the school bus stop. He did not arrive at his bus stop, nor at his school. His laptop was found near the bus stop.

Investigators say a person matching the boy’s description was seen on the north end of Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park near 99th Avenue Northwest just after 8 a.m. Another person told investigators they saw someone matching his’s description on the 8400 block of Mississippi River Boulevard at about 9 a.m.

Police said they planned to work into the night with K-9 handler teams from North Star Search and Rescue to try and locate the boy.
