What started in Huntsville, Alabama, ended in Minneapolis Sunday when Terry Willis finished his nearly 1,000-mile walk.
The ‘1K Mile March’ started on June 2 and the goal was to raise awareness for social change, racial equality, and justice for the families who have lost loved ones to police violence – just as George Floyd’s family did.
Willis finished at the George Floyd Memorial at the intersection of 38th Street and Chicago Avenue in south Minneapolis. The group started at the Mall of America and peacefully made their way through multiple cities with police officers, state troopers, and community members keeping them safe from traffic.
Wearing a shirt that called for change, equality, and justice, Willis ended the walk the way he wanted: surrounded by people who supported his message and calls for change.
